Everybody wants to know: “What does the end of the world look like? What does the Bible have to say about it?” Here, we will follow the Biblical order of events.
We begin in the Church Age, as shown in Revelation chapters two and three. These are God's view on church history from the time of Christ and the Apostles, up to the rapture of the church.
At the Rapture, as shown in Revelation chapter four, the dead in Christ rise first, and living believers are caught up with them to meet the Lord in the air. We see this described in first Thessalonians chapter four and first Corinthians chapter fifteen.
Then, in heaven, believers stand before Christ’s Judgment Seat, where their service is examined for reward.
During this time, on earth, Daniel’s final week unfolds: seven years of Tribulation. The antichrist's covenant is broken at the midpoint, bringing the “great” Tribulation trouble.
Revelation presents four parallel accounts of this Tribulation: seals, trumpets, personages, and vials, covering this same period. All converge at the Second Coming.
The second coming, which is the most anticipated Biblical event, is when Christ returns with His saints, defeats the gathered enemies, and judges the nations.
During this time, Satan is bound, and Christ reigns for a thousand years with his saints. Afterward, Satan is briefly released; and his final rebellion is crushed.
Then comes the Great White Throne, where the wicked dead are judged. This is the final judgement of sin, where all is finally set right.
Finally, a new heaven and a new earth. New Jerusalem descends, and God dwells with His people. No more death, sorrow, or pain.
This is our blessed hope: live faithfully as we look for Christ.
